Covid-19 calls for us to physical distance from one another, but at Team Unbreakable, we’ve created an event so you can still cross the finish line and take home the medal! We’ve created a “virtual 5K” so that on Sunday June 21 (Father’s Day) you can register and run or walk 5K wherever you live. Here’s where you can sign up, create a personal pledge page and encourage friends, family and schoolmates to sponsor you. https://bit.ly/2S6xzCp
For registering, at the low cost of $10 for students and $20 for adults (and free for teacher team leads), you’ll receive a finisher’s certificate, button and medal, congratulations TU video, anda ‘virtual’ finisher’s shirt for your bulletin board. Not only that, you’ll be eligible for a draw for $100 worth of movie voucher! The top fundraisers will receive matching SoYong backpacks and lunchboxes.
“We believe in positive mental health and by creating this event to replace our annual June runs in Toronto and Port Credit, we are encouraging our students and supporters to stay active. Now, more than ever, it is important to realize the positive impact exercise can have on our mental health,” says Team Unbreakable Program Director Nils Blondon.
June 21 was chosen since it was the date of the original 5k run created by the charity’s founder, 15 years ago. It is also a great way to surprise all father’s by showing how you can “go the distance” in maintaining your good health and raise money for a good cause, says Nils.
