Team Unbreakable Run/Walk Events
Team Unbreakable organizes run/walk events to encourage family and community participation, helping bring people closer to the issues, raising awareness and helping reduce the stigma of mental illness. The organization holds its signature Unbreakable Father’s Day 5K walk/run in Port Credit each year. We also partner with the Toronto, Halton and Peel School Boards to organize a fall run, called the Unbreakable Bold and Cold 5k, and The Halton Unbreakable Run for Youth Mental Health at the end of Children’s Mental Health week in May. It has also developed a partnership program with the annual May Mississauga Marathon as one of its selected charities.
Seminars – Corporate, Community & Organization
This is a speaking program intended for a variety of community-based audiences to raise awareness and help reduce stigma. The presentation can be customized for a specific audience area of interest, or for a local Team Unbreakable partner to add its own local content. It can also provide educational content of particular interest to parents and educators.
safeTALK training course
Presented by Jennifer Brighton, MSW, RSW and/or Keara Gillis, safeTALK is a three-hour alertness workshop that prepares anyone over the age of 15, regardless of prior experience or training, to become a suicide-alert helper. Most people with thoughts of suicide don’t want to die but are struggling with the pain in their lives. Through their words and actions, they invite help to stay alive; safeTALK-trained helpers can recognize these invitations and take action by connecting them with life-saving intervention resources.
